SPATIALinfo Releases Fiber To The Home (FTTH/FTTP) Fiber Design and Management Software

(Englewood, Colorado - September 10, 2004) — SPATIALinfo, a specialist supplier of network management solutions and data integration for cable and broadband companies, today announced the latest release of its Fiber Design and Management system to support FTTH/FTTP. The fully integrated solution incorporates both design and management of inside and outside plant networks in a single system, integrated with CAD and GIS in an open relational database.

This newest release includes the ability to design next generation Fiber to the Home/Premise (FTTH/FTTP) networks, including many tools for automating address and customer management, fiber assignment, splicing and capacity management, along with the ability to link any record in the database to other information held in the organization. Also included are functions for documenting conduit usage and spare capacity, pole attachments, and many other aspects of the structural support network. A unique feature of the system is SPATIALinfo's Job Management System which provides the ability to engineer designs directly into the same database used for fiber management and operations, without overwriting as-built records until construction of the actual network is complete. This both eliminates the double-handling of data between engineering and operations, and ensures that operations users always have access to accurate and current data about the network.

The system's comprehensive physical network model is matched by its sophisticated circuit management tools. Users may configure the system to manage any signal protocol, from simple coarse-wave-division-multiplexing, to digital hierarchies (such as SONET or SDH) with fractional bandwidth allocated to time-slices or channels. Representations of virtual circuits may be created, assigned to customers, assigned band-width units and routed through intelligent devices within the network. The system can provide a comprehensive report of all physical and virtual circuits, along with all customers, associated with any piece of plant.

"SPATIALinfo provides the most advanced software and services to the Cable, Broadband, Long Haul and Telecommunications markets," said Greg Foster, President of SPATIALinfo. "Time and time again, our customers tell us that we are providing outstanding industry leading innovative solutions combined with excellent customer service at a dramatic value for the price. Our ability to integrate disparate data sources from a variety of engineering, marketing, operational, customer services and financial systems, linking them together with details of inside and outside plant information and provide real time solutions as well as accurate reporting data, provides meaningful processes to allow our clients serve their customers more effectively."
