Convergent Group Asia Pacific Changes its name to SPATIALinfo

(Sydney, Australia, 9th March, 1998) - Convergent Group Asia Pacific Pty Limited, one of Australia's leading product developers and systems integrators in Automated Mapping/Facilities Management (AM/FM), Spatial Information Systems (SIS), and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) solutions, today announced that it had changed its name to SPATIALinfo Pty. Limited.

The name change has been initiated in line with the company's re-focus on its flagship spatial information products, Spatial Data Manager (SDM) and ARC-NET, announced in December, 1997.

SDM is superior technically to any spatial server available today in the market. SDM was designed to take the mystique out of spatial information by using industry standard tools and API's to enable spatial data to be stored in commercially available relational databases. SPATIALinfo will release the next version of SDM (4.2) in mid-March, 1998.

SPATIALinfo is currently replacing the GDS client component of its ARC-NET Telco and Utility network modelling products with the Autodesk suite of Computer Aided Design (CAD) and GIS products. ARC-NET, being re-launched in April as SPATIALnet™, is today a world best practice all-relational AM/FM product utilising SDM for rapid spatial data access, and Oracle as its repository. SPATIALinfo is bringing to the global market the only Telco and Utility AM/FM product fully integrated with both industry standard databases and graphics engines.

ARC-NET is currently installed on 800 seats in Telstra's Cable Plant Records (CPR) system, Australia's largest AM/FM/GIS, and one of the few fully deployed operational AM/FM/GIS systems in a telecommunications company anywhere in the world. ARC-NET is also operational, managing network assets in a number of electric power, gas water and sewerage Utilities.

Mr Peter Mitchell, a Director of SPATIALinfo said, "The company's strategic focus on software products is designed to leverage SPATIALinfo's assets and bring a more effective variety of solutions for spatial data to the market. The company will focus on direct service delivery to strategic end user customers and enhance greater use of spatial technologies by working with business partners and systems integrators". Mr Tony Cotter another Director of SPATIALinfo said, "One of SPATIALinfo's fundamental beliefs is that customers need to leverage their existing IT investments in software infrastructure and working solutions, and hence they will increasingly require broader enterprise information solutions which are spatially enabled rather than buying islands of technology. SPATIALinfo is uniquely positioned to help organisations make that transition."

SPATIALinfo Pty Limited is an Australian software company, with offices in Sydney and Melbourne, specialising in the delivery of software products, consulting, applications development, data migration, and systems integration solutions for Automated Mapping/Facilities Management (AM/FM), Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Work Management Systems (WMS), Document Management Systems (DMS) and related technologies. SPATIALinfo's business focus is software product development and services in telecommunications, cable, power, water and gas, as well as process industries, infrastructure projects and government agencies, including land management agencies.
